DTC Information: DTC Detecting Condition

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Kia Seltos. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Item Detecting Condition Possible Cause
DTC Strategy
  • Calculation of engine roughness
  • Faulty spark plugs or Ignition coil
  • Incorrect valve timing
  • Uneven compression
  • Air leakage
  • Improper fuel pressure or dirty fuel
  • Blocked/Leaking injectors
  • Leakage between cooling system and cylinder
Enable Conditions
  • Engine load ratio is at between 10 and 85%
  • Engine speed is at between 470 and 6700RPM
  • Barometric pressure (BARO) model is higher than 75 kPa
  • Engine load ratio gradient is less than 12 to 60%/s
  • Throttle gradient is less than 58.6 to 1265.6%/s
  • Coolant temperature is higher than 20°C (68°F) if start temperature is lower than -7°C (19°F)
  • No rough road condition (moving mean value of vehicle speed gradient is less than 13 to 25%)
  • Fuel cut-off not active
  • Battery voltage is at between 11V and 16V
Threshold Value
  • Misfire detected on 2 or more cylinders
Diagnostic Time
  • Continuously
MIL ON Condition
  • Immediately (misfire enough to damage the catalyst)
  • 2 driving cycles (misfire breaking the emission regulation)
