Rear Disc Brake Pad

  1. Release the parking brake.
    • With EPB:  Release the EPB, push the EPB switch or using KDS.

      (Refer to Parking brake - "ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE ")

    • Without EPB:  Release the parking brake lever and parking brake cable is loose.
  2. Remove the rear wheel and tire.

    (Refer to Suspension System - "WHEEL ")

  3. Disconnect the EPB connector or parking brake cable.
    • With EPB:  Disconnect the EPB connector (A).

    • Without EPB:  Remove the parking brake cable (B), after removing the clip (A).

    [2WD]

  4. Loosen the guide rod bolts (A) and then remove the caliper housing (B).

    Tightening torque: 

    21.6 - 31.4 N.m (2.2 - 3.2 kgf.m, 15.9 - 23.1 lb.ft)

    NOTE: Fix the caliper assembly with a wire.
  5. Remove the brake pads (A).

  6. Remove the pad retainer (A).

    NOTE: Place the pad spring, inner brake shim, pad retainer and brake pad all at the same time when replacing the brake pad.
    [Without EPB] 
    • Brake pad, pad return springs, pad retainer must be replaced with new ones whenever pads are replaced.
    • Technicians should be careful not to deform pad return springs.
    • When pad return springs are deformed, it may cause improper braking, more fuel consumption.

    [With EPB] 
    • Brake pad, pad retainer must be replaced with new ones whenever pads are replaced.
    • Technicians should be careful not to deform pad return springs.
    • When pad return springs are deformed, it may cause improper braking, more fuel consumption.
    • When installing the brake pads, Handle with care to avoid deformation on the retraction part of the pad spring.

  7. Install in the reverse order of removal.
    NOTE: Rotate the piston clockwise into the caliper body.
    Check the groove position.

    For the brake pad to set on the normal operation position, depress the brake pedal halfway several times until the brake pedal gains resistance.
