| Item | Normal Value | Prerequisite Condition | Connector(+) | Connector(-) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CAN communication line (open, short): resistance | Infinite | Ignition switch: OFF | SMK ECU's CAN High terminal | Chassis ground |
| SMK ECU's CAN Low terminal | Chassis ground | |||
| CAN communication line (open, short): voltage | Approx. below 5V | Ignition switch: ON | SMK ECU's CAN High terminal | Chassis ground |

- Is the measured signal waveform normal?
YES
- Thoroughly check the Smart Key Unit (SMK IMMO unit) connectors for improper mating, pin misplacement, loose pin terminal, or poor connection. Repair or replace the relevant component(s) as necessary.
- Remove connectors of each unit including SMK ECU, BCM, IGPM and try for communication. See if the DTC is cleared.
- Replace the unit with an usable one and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace the unit.
- Repair or replace the relevant component(s) as necessary. Then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR ".
NO
- If the result is the same as the battery voltage, check for a short and battery power. Inspect/repair them and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR ". When the communication is in the Sleep mode, the result can be 12V. Thus, make sure the system is in the Wake-up mode.
- If the result is 0V, check for chassis ground, a short, an open, or a short between lines. Inspect/repair them and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR ".
