DTC Information And Inspection: DTC Detecting Condition

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Hyundai Kona. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Item  Detecting Condition  Possible Cause
Case 1 Main Action
  • Characteristic line strong shift to lean
  1. Poor connection or harness damage
  2. Front HO2S
Prerequisite Condition
  • Upstream and Downstream O2 sensor operative readiness is detected.
  • Active test is not activated.
  • Catalyst purge after fuel cut-off is not activated.
  • Engine speed is higher than 600 RPM.
  • Mass air flow is less than 83 g/sec.
  • Exhaust gas temperature (model) is between 300° (572 °F) and 800° (1, 472 °F).
Threshold Value
  • Upstream lambda (lean) value is higher than 1.1, Downstream O2 signal (rich) is higher than 0.75V.
  • When above conditions are fulfilled, mass air flow is integrated.

Malfunction is detected when the accumulated mass air flow reaches 300g.

Diagnosis Time
  • 5 ~100 seconds (depends on intake air mass)
Case 2 Main Action
  • Characteristic line middle shift to lean
Prerequisite Condition
  • No fuel cut-off is activated.
  • No full load is activated with 90% of accelerator pedal value
  • No catalyst overheating protection is activated.
  • Battery voltage is between 11V and 16V.
Threshold Value
  • Active test symptom during lambda set point shift to rich (after detecting DTC P209700)
  • Lambda value is higher than 0.9 when lambda set point is 0.8.
Diagnosis Time
  • 10 seconds after lambda set point shift to corresponding side.
MIL-On Condition
  • 3rd Driving Cycle
