DTC Information And Inspection: DTC Detecting Condition

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Hyundai Kona. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Item  Detecting Condition  Possible Cause
Case 1 Main Action
  • TPS adaptation check for lower position
    • Whether throttle position reaches lower position or not within allowable maximum time by lower return spring
  1. Poor connection or damaged harness
  2. Faulty ETC motor
Prerequisite Condition
  • During TPS adaptation, TPS set point is 1.9%.
Threshold Value
  • Difference between throttle position and set point is greater than 0.5%.
Case 2 Main Action
  • TPS adaptation error check by low return spring
    • When ETC power stage is off, throttle can not return by spring power in the limp-home position within allowable maximum time.
Prerequisite Condition
  • During TPS adaptation
Threshold Value
  • Difference between throttle position voltage and adapted voltage in limp home position is higher than 0.18 V.
Case 3 Main Action
  • TPS adaptation check for upper position
    • Whether throttle position reaches upper position or not within allowable maximum time by upper return spring
Prerequisite Condition
  • During TPS adaptation, TPS set point is 19%.
Threshold Value
  • Difference between throttle position and set point is greater than 0.5%.
Case 4 Main Action
  • TPS adaptation error check by upper return spring
    • When ETC power stage is off, throttle can not return by spring power in the limp-home position within allowable maximum time.
Prerequisite Condition
  • During TPS adaptation
Threshold Value
  • Difference between throttle position voltage and adapted voltage in limp home position is higher than 0.18 V.
Case 5 Main Action
  • TPS start check error in spring check
    • Throttle flap cannot reach the set point within the hysteresis and within allowable maximum time.
Prerequisite Condition
  • During TPS adaptation, TPS set point is 14.2%.
Threshold Value
  • Difference between throttle position and requested position is greater than 0.5%.
Case 6 Main Action
  • TPS start check error in limp-home check
    • When ETC power stage is off, throttle cannot return by spring power in the limp-home position within allowable maximum time.
Prerequisite Condition
  • During TPS adaptation, no engine started.
Threshold Value
  • Difference between throttle position voltage and adapted voltage in limp home position is higher than 0.18V.
Diagnosis Time
  • 1.2 Seconds
MIL-On Condition
  • 2nd Driving Cycle
