DTC Information And Inspection: DTC Detecting Condition

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Hyundai Kona. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Item  Detecting Condition  Possible Cause
DTC Strategy
  • Air/Fuel deviation check for individual cylinder
  1. Fuel leakage or stuck in injector
  2. Air leakage in cylinder
  3. Ignition system error in cylinder
  4. Abnormal compression pressure in cylinder
Prerequisite Condition
  • Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) is higher than 68° (154.4°F)
  • ECT while starting engine is higher than -10 ° (14°F)
  • Elapsed time after engine start is longer than 120 seconds.
  • Catalyst temperature (model) is lower than 900° (1652°F)
  • Engine speed is between 1312 RPM and 2816 RPM.
  • Fuel mass set point is between 0.025 g/rev and 0.052 g/rev.
  • Lambda control is functioning and Lambda set-point equals to 1
  • Stable driving condition;
    • Absolute value of difference between actual and filtered engine speed is lower than 1000 RPM.
    • Absolute value of difference between actual and filtered mass air is lower than 0.1 g/rev.
    • Absolute value of difference between actual and filtered lambda is greater than 8 %.
  • Catalyst heating is not activated.
  • Fuel cut-off is not functioning.
  • Catalyst purge after fuel cut-off is not activated.
  • No misfire is detected.
Threshold Value
  • Short term fuel trim deviation is higher than 15% or lower than -15%.
  • #1 individual A/F deviation is greater than threshold
Diagnostic Time
  • 3 A/F adaptation cycles
MIL On Condition
  • 3rd Driving Cycle
