ECT Sensor Resistance

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Hyundai Kona. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn the ignition switch "OFF". Disconnect ECT Sensor connector.
  2. Measure the resistance between signal and ground terminal of sensor connector. (Component side)

    Specification

Temperature (°/°F) Resistance (kΩ) Temperature (°/°F) Resistance (kΩ)
    -40/-40 48.14 40/104 1.15
    -20/-4 14.13 ~ 16.83 60/140 0.59
    0/32 5.79 100/212 0.19
    20/68 2.31 ~ 2.59
  3. Is the measured resistance within specification?

    YES

    • Clear DTC and Test-drive under the enable conditions. After the road test, if this DTC is set, recheck resistance. If not, it is intermittent fault. Go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR ",

    NO

    • Check ECTS for contamination, deterioration, or damage. Substitute with a known-good ECTS and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace ECTS and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
