Item Detecting Condition Possible Cause

  • Plausibility check
  1. Short to battery in signal harness
  2. Open in signal or ground circuit
  3. Poor connection or damaged harness
  4. Faulty ECT/IAT sensor
Prerequisite Condition
  • Battery voltage is between 11V and 16V.
  • Elapsed time after engine stop is longer than or equal to 8 hours.
  • Temperature drop of ECT sensor in 15 seconds after engine start is higher than or equal to 2 ° (35.6 °F).
Threshold Value
  • Difference between IAT and other temperature sensors (ECT) is greater then 20° (68°F).
