DTC Information And Inspection: DTC Detecting Condition

Item Detecting Condition & Fail Safe Possible Cause
Case 1 Main Action
  • Signal is stuck in low temperature
  1. Poor connection or harness damage
  2. Faulty ECT sensor
  3. Faulty cooling system
Prerequisite Condition
  • Battery voltage is between 6V and 16V.
  • Engine coolant temperature while starting engine is below 76° (169°F).
Threshold Value
  • Engine coolant temperature measured is varied within 0.75° (33.4°F) to 35° (95°F) when comparing with it at the time of engine start.
Case 2 Main Action
  • Signal is stuck in high temperature
Prerequisite Condition
  • Battery voltage is between 11V and 16V
  • Coolant temperature at starting engine is higher than 76° (169°F).
  • Intake air temperature while starting engine is between -10° (14°F) and 70° (158°F).
  • Ambient air temperature (model) is higher over -10° (14°F).
Threshold Value
  • Engine coolant temperature variation since engine is started is lower than 2.25° (36.05°F)
