Item Detecting Condition Possible Cause
Main Action
  • Monitors HO2 sensor element temperature by measuring element resistance
  1. Related fuse blown or missing
  2. Heater control circuit open or short
  3. Power supply circuit open or short
  4. Poor connection or harness damage
  5. Faulty HO2S
Prerequisite Condition
  • Normal heating time of Downstream HO2 sensor is longer than 58 seconds.
  • Engine coolant temperature drops since the last engine stop to the above of 25° (77°F).
  • Battery voltage is between 11V and 16V.
Threshold Value
  • Internal resistance of Downstream HO2S is greater than 1000Ω.
Diagnostic Time
  • 10 Seconds
MIL-On Condition
  • 3rd Driving Cycle
