Component Inspection

  1. Visual Check
    1. Turn the ignition switch "OFF".
    2. Check physical condition of CMPS.
    3. Check the projection of Camshaft visually after remove the CMPS.
    4. Is everything OK?

      YES 

      • Go to " 2 CMPS check".

      NO 

  2. Check CMPS
    1. Turn the ignition switch "OFF". (Don't disconnect sensors.)
    2. Select "vehicle scope meter" in the menu, and connect channel A of GDS with signal terminal of CMPS harness connector.
    3. Engine start. And check the signal waveforms.

      Specification:  Refer to SIGNAL WAVEFORM & DATA 

    4. Is the signal waveform within specifications?

      YES 

      • Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector. Or, ECM memory was not cleared after repair. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, ending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR ".

      NO 

      • Replace the CMPS with an usable one and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace the CMPS and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR ".
