DTC Information And Inspection: DTC Detecting Condition

Trouble shooting Condition Possible Cause
Main action
  • Monitor Wheel Speed Sensor signal
  1. Improper installation of Wheel Speed Sensor
  2. Large Air-Gap
  3. Wheel Speed Sensor type mis-installation
  4. Faulty Wheel Speed Sensor (RL)
  5. Tone wheel with wrong number of teeth
  6. Abnormal tire size
Case 1 Threshold value
  • A failure is detected when ABS/ESP (ESC) receives missing Wheel Speed Sensor signal.
  • A failure is detected when Wheel Speed Sensor signal continuously indicates a too low wheel speed.
Diagnosis time
  • Depends on the driving situation.
Case 2 Threshold value
  • A failure is detected when Wheel Speed Sensor signal indicates continuously too high or too low wheel speed
Diagnosis time
  • 10 seconds.
Case 3 Threshold value
  • A failure is detected when pressure reduction phase and the following pressure hold phase are too long.
Diagnosis time
  • 28 seconds.
MIL
  • Failure on one Wheel Speed Sensor:

    ABS/ESP (ESC)/DBC warning lamps ON.

    BRAKE warning lamp OFF.

  • Failure on more than one Wheel Speed Sensor:

    BRAKE/ABS/ESP (ESC)/DBC warning lamp ON.
