Trouble shooting Condition Possible Cause
Main action
  • Monitor Wheel Speed Sensor signal
  1. Improper installation of Wheel Speed Sensor
  2. Abnormal Rotor and wheel bearing
  3. Faulty Wheel Speed Sensor (RL)
  4. Faulty ESP (ESC)
  5. Open or short of Wheel Speed Sensor circuit (RL)
  6. External noise
  7. Sensor type wrong installation
Case 1 Threshold value
  • A failure is detected when Wheel Speed Sensor signal changes erratically.
  • A failure is detected when Wheel Speed Sensor signal is impossibly high.
Diagnosis time
  • 170 milliseconds
Case 2 Threshold value
  • A failure is detected when Wheel Speed Sensor signal indicates noise.

Case 3 Threshold value
  • A failure is detected when Wheel Speed Sensor signal drops periodically.
  1. Deformation of tone wheel (debris or contamination)
  2. Excessive mechanical force intrusion
Diagnosis time
  • 15 confirmations of the failure event
MIL
  • Failure on one Wheel Speed Sensor:

    ABS/ESP (ESC)/DBC warning lamps ON.

    BRAKE warning lamp OFF.

  • Failure on more than one Wheel Speed Sensor:

    BRAKE/ABS/ESP (ESC)/DBC warning lamp ON.
