CAN Signal Circuit Inspection

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 Hyundai Sonata. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

■ Short Check (to Ground)

  1. IG "OFF".
  2. Disconnect AHB connector.
  3. Measure resistance between CAN LOW Terminal (CAN HIGH Terminal) of the AHB harness connector and chassis ground.

    Specification:  ∞ Ω

  4. Is the measured value within specifications?

    YES

    • Go to next procedure.

    NO

    • If abnormal resistance is detected in CAN HIGH circuit, Repair short to ground in CAN HIGH circuit and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
    • If abnormal resistance is detected in CAN LOW circuit, Repair short to ground in CAN LOW circuit and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.

■ CAN BUS Resistance Check

  1. IG "OFF".
  2. Disconnect the AHB, PCM (ECM) connector.
  3. Measure resistance between CAN LOW terminal and CAN HIGH terminal of the AHB harness connector.

    Specification:  Approx. 120Ω

  4. Is the measured value within specifications?

    YES

    NO

    • In case of the resistance "approx. 1Ω": Repair mutual short in CAN signal circuit of the AHB and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
    • In case of the resistance "∞ Ω": Check the resistance (122Ω) in cluster and open in CAN signal circuit of the AHB, repair as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
