Component Inspection

■ Stop lamp switch Check 

  1. IG "OFF".
  2. Disconnect the Stop lamp switch connector.
  3. Measure resistance between power terminal and signal terminal of the Stop lamp switch connector.

    Specification: 

    Resistance between terminals of the brake light switch - ∞ Ω (when the plunger is pushed down), 0 Ω (when the plunger isn't pushed down). Resistance between the terminals of the brake switch - ∞ Ω (when the plunger is not pushed down), 0 Ω (when the plunger is pushed down).

  4. Is the measured resistance within specification?

    YES 

    • Check Stop Signal Electronic Module for contamination, deterioration, or damage. Substitute with a known-good switch and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace Stop Signal Electronic Module and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.

    NO 

    • Check Stop Lamp Switch for contamination, deterioration, or damage. Substitute with a known-good switch and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace switch and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
