DTC Information: DTC Detecting Condition

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
Item Detecting Condition & Fail Safe Possible Cause
Case 1 DTC Strategy
  • Signal Stuck Low
  1. Poor connection or damaged harness
  2. Faulty ECT sensor
  3. Faulty cooling system
Enable Conditions
  • Battery voltage is between 6 V and 16 V
  • Coolant temperature at Start lower than 76°C (169°F)
Threshold Value
  • When water Temperature is not changed comparing with it at the time of engine start
Case 2 DTC Strategy
  • Signal Stuck High
Enable Conditions
  • Battery voltage is between 6 V and 16 V
  • Coolant temperature at Start lower than 76°C (169°F)
  • IAT at engine start between -10°C (14°F) and 70°C (158°F)
  • Part Load driving condition (Engine speed higher than 1400 RPM, Vehicle speed faster than 22km/h (13.6mph), Mass air flow greater than 5.5 g/sec)
  • Low Load driving condition (Fuel Cut Of or Idle with vehicle speed slower than 19.3km/h (12mph)
  • Ambient temperature is higher than -10°C (14°F)
Threshold Value
  • ECT variation since engine start lower than 2.25°C (36.05° F)
Case 3 DTC Strategy
  • Signal implausible high
Enable Conditions
  • Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT), Intake Air Temperature (IAT), Engine Oil Temperature (EOT) drop is lower than 2° C (35.6°F) within 15 sec. right after engine starts
  • Engine Stop time longer than 480 sec.
Threshold Value
  • Deviation between ECT and 2 other temp. sensors (IAT, AAT or EOT) higher than 20°C (68°F) and Deviation among other temp. sensors (IAT, AAT, EOT) lower than 20° C (68°F)
Diagnostic Time
  • Immediate
MIL On Condition
  • 2 Driving Cycles
