DTC Information: DTC Detecting Condition

Item Detecting Condition Possible Cause
Case 1 DTC Strategy
  • Deviation check between actual CAM position and CAM setpoint position in case of changing setpoint (slow response of actuator)
  1. Oil leak
  2. Oil contamination
  3. Oil Control Valve
  4. Oil Control Valve filter contamination
  5. CVVT Assembly (Intake)
Enable Conditions
  • Camshaft setpoint moving by more than 12°CRK within less than 0.8 sec.
  • Camshaft setpoint moved more than 3 times since engine start
  • Battery voltage is between 11 V and 16 V
  • Engine speed (RPM) is between 600 to 1500 and 5000 RPM
  • Engine oil temp. is between 20°C (68°F) and 120°C (248°F)
Threshold Value
  • CAM position movement is less than 3.4 °CRK within 0.8 sec. (with CAM setpoint moving by 12 °CRK)
Case 2 DTC Strategy
  • Deviation check between actual CAM position and CAM setpoint position (steady deviation)
Enable Conditions
  • Camshaft setpoint moved more than 3 times since engine start
  • Camshaft setpoint not close to full retard position
  • Battery voltage is between 11 V and 16 V
  • Engine speed (RPM) is between 600 to 1500 and 5000 RPM
  • Engine oil temp. is between 20°C (68°F) and 120°C (248°F)
Threshold Value
  • The absolute value of difference between Camshaft position actual value and Camshaft position setpoint is greater than 45°CRK/sec.

  • Immediate
MIL On Condition
  • 2 Driving Cycles
