Component Inspection: Notes

  1. Connect GDS and select "DTC Analysis" mode
  2. Warm up the engine.
  3. Monitor the parameters related to DTC on the "Current Data" menu of the GDS below.

    • Current position of inlet camshaft is varied according to actual engine speed
  4. Is the measured resistance within specification?

    YES 

    • Fault is intermittent. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.

    NO 

    • Check the mechanical connection between E-CVVT assembly and cam shaft.
    • Visually check oil leakage around E-CVVT assembly.
    • Substitute with a known - good E-CVVT and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace E-CVVT and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
    NOTE: When the electric E-CVVT assembly is replaced or remounted, make sure to use the additional feature menu on the GDS diagnosis equipment and reset the learned value.
