Coolant Temperature Gauge

Disconnect coolant temperature sending unit harness connector located in engine compartment. Turn ignition on. Needle should drop to COOL area of gauge. Turn ignition off. Connect a 12-volt, 3.4-watt test light in series between ground and sending unit harness connector Brown/Orange wire terminal.
Turn ignition on. Ensure test light flashes/illuminates and coolant temperature gauge moves toward HOT area of gauge. If test light illuminates but gauge does not move, replace coolant temperature gauge. If test light does not illuminate, check wiring for open circuit. Repair as necessary. If wiring is okay, replace coolant temperature gauge.
NOTE: There are 3 instrument cluster 16-pin harness connectors. Connector I21-1 is located on driver's side of instrument cluster. Connector I21-2 is located in middle of instrument cluster. Connector I21-3 is located on passenger's side of instrument cluster.
