Testing Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Hyundai XG350. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check for blown fuse No. 28 (10-amp). Fuse is located in passenger compartment junction block. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace and retest system.
  2. Turn ignition off. Access instrument cluster harness connectors. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. Disconnect instrument cluster 14-pin harness connector I18-3. Turn ignition on. Using fused jumper wire connected to ground, jumper instrument cluster harness connector I18-3 pin No. 4. See Fig 1 . If ABS warning light does not illuminate, go to next step. If ABS warning light illuminates, go to step  6 .
  3. Check ABS warning light bulb. If bulb is burnt out, replace bulb. After repair, retest system. If bulb is okay, go to next step.
  4. Check for poor, loose, corroded or damaged terminal connection in instrument cluster harness connector. If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, retest system.
  5. Replace instrument cluster. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. After repair, retest system.
  6. Check for and repair open or short in Blue/Black wire between HECU and instrument cluster. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repair, retest system.
