Testing Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Hyundai XG350. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check wheel speed sensor installation. If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair or replace wheel speed sensor as necessary. After repair, retest system.
  2. Check air gap between wheel speed sensor and tone wheel. Air gap should be .008-.043" (0.2-1.1 mm). If air gap is not as specified, go to next step. If air gap is as specified, go to step  4 .
  3. Replace or adjust wheel speed sensor as necessary. After repair, retest system.
  4. Disconnect suspect wheel speed sensor 2-pin harness connector. Check for poor, loose, corroded or damaged terminal connection in wheel speed sensor harness connectors. If no problem is found, reconnect harness connectors and go to next step. If problem is found, repair or replace terminals as necessary.
  5. Replace HECU. See HYDRAULIC AND ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, retest system.
