Rear Brake Drum, Bearing & Oil Seal: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten axle hub lock nut to specification while rotating wheel. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. NOTE: Specifications for Accent in next step are not available by manufacturer.
  3. Check end play using dial indicator. Position indicator plunger tip onto axle flange rim nearest spindle. With parking brake off, move drum/hub assembly in and out. Maximum limit of end play allowed is .0003" (.008 mm) for Elantra, Santa Fe and Tiburon, and .008" (.20 mm) for Sonata and XG300. If end play exceeds limit, replace wheel bearings.
  4. Fill grease cap with grease and install cap. Apply and release parking brake lever several times. Depress and release brake pedal. This will automatically adjust shoe clearance.
