Removal (Elantra, Sonata & Tiburon)

  1. On models with air bag, remove air bag module and clockspring. See AIR BAG MODULE  and CLOCKSPRING  . On models without air bag, disconnect negative battery cable. Remove horn pad retaining screws on back of steering wheel. Lift out horn pad, and disconnect horn switch wires. Remove steering wheel nut.
  2. On all models, make alignment marks on steering shaft and steering wheel for installation reference. Install suitable steering wheel puller, and pull steering wheel from shaft.
