Check Driver-side Side Impact AIR Bag
- Connect Air Bag Simulator (0957A-38200) to driver-side side impact air bag module harness connector. Using plastic shorting bar insert, release left-side air bag activation prevention mechanism on SRS control module harness connector.
- On models with passenger-side air bag, measure resistance between SRSCM connector terminals No. 22 (Brown wire) and No. 23 (Yellow/Black wire). On models without passenger-side air bag, measure resistance between terminals No. 12 (Green/White wire) and No. 13 (White/Black wire). See Figure or Figure
. If resistance is 1.6-2.8 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 1.6-2.8 ohms, replace harness or connector between SRS control module and driver-side side impact air bag module harness connector.NOTE: DTCs other than 1378 or 1379 may be recorded in scan tool. They are not relevant to this check and should be disregarded.
- Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Wait at least 30 seconds. Reconnect driver-side side impact air bag module and SRSCM harness connectors. Reconnect negative battery cable. Wait at least 30 seconds.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Wait at least 30 seconds. Clear DTC"s from scan tool. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Wait at least 30 seconds. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Wait at least 30 seconds. Check for DTCs. If DTC B1378 or B1379 is recorded, replace driver-side side impact air bag module. If DTC B1378 or B1379 is not recorded, system is functioning properly.
