Check Driver-side AIR Bag Resistance
- Disconnect clockspring from SRSCM harness connector. Connect Air Bag Simulator (0957A-38200) to clockspring electrical connector. Ensure that clockspring shorting bar is positioned so it will not interfere with resistance measurement.
- Measure resistance between terminals No. 1 and No. 2 of clockspring terminal. If resistance is not 1.8-3.4 ohms, go to step 5. If resistance is 1.8-3.4 ohms, go to next step.
- Remove Air Bag Simulator from clockspring connector. Connect driver-side air bag module to clockspring and clockspring to SRSCM harness connector. Connect SRSCM harness to SRSCM. Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position.NOTE: DTCs other than 1346 or 1347 may be recorded in scan tool. They are not relevant to this check and should be disregarded.
- Connect negative battery cable. Wait 30 seconds. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Wait 30 seconds. Clear DTC"s from scan tool. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Wait 30 seconds. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Wait 30 seconds. If DTC B1346 or B1347 are recorded, replace driver-side air bag. If DTC B1346 or B1347 are not recorded, system is functioning normally.
- Connect Air Bag Simulator (0957A-38200) to SRSCM harness connector at clockspring. Check resistance between terminals No. 15 (White wire) and No. 16 (Green wire). See Figure or Figure . If resistance is not 1.8-3.4 ohms, replace wire harness. If resistance is 1-8-3.4 ohms, replace clockspring.
