ECM will set a DTC and illuminate the MIL if engine misfires have occurred more often than allowed during the previous 200 engine revolutions or more often than 2 percent of 1000 engine revolutions when catalytic converter temperature 1742°F (950°C). The misfire rate is measured when the following conditions are met:
- Engine has been running for more than 5 seconds.
- Engine speed is 500-6000 RPM.
- Engine coolant temperature is more than 14°F (-10°C)
- Intake air temperature is more than 14°F (-10°C)
- There are no sudden accelerations or decelerations such as a shift change.
