A surge voltage is generated when fuel injectors are activated. ECM will set a DTC and illuminate the MIL if fuel injector surge voltage is not detected by ECM during a 4 second monitoring period when engine speed is 50-1000 RPM, TP sensor output voltage is 1.16 volts or less, and system voltage is more than 2 volts.
