DTC C1201, C1204, C1207 Or C1210: Wheel Speed Sensor Speed Jump Or Wrong Exciter

  1. Turn ignition off. Inspect suspect wheel speed sensor for proper installation. Repair as necessary and retest system. If installation is okay, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect Hydraulic and Electronic Control Unit (HECU) harness connector. Raise and support vehicle. While rotating appropriate wheel by hand, measure AC voltage between appropriate HECU harness connector terminals. See appropriate WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION table. If AC voltage exists, go to step  6 . If AC voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect suspect wheel speed sensor harness connector. Rear wheel speed sensor harness connectors are located outboard of rear seat cushion, behind rear pillar trim. Measure resistance between wheel speed sensor terminals. If resistance is 1000-1200 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 1000-1200 ohms, replace wheel speed sensor.
  4. While rotating wheel by hand, measure AC voltage between wheel speed sensor terminals. If AC voltage exists, go to next step. If AC voltage does not exist, replace wheel speed sensor.
  5. Inspect brake rotor and wheel bearings. Replace, if necessary and retest system. If brake rotor and wheel bearings are okay, go to next step.
  6. Check circuits between HECU and appropriate wheel speed sensor. Repair as necessary and retest system. If circuits are okay, replace HECU.
