Coolant Temperature Gauge

  1. Disconnect coolant temperature sending unit harness connector, located in engine compartment. Connect a 12-volt, 3.4-watt test light in series between ground and sending unit harness connector terminal. Turn ignition on.
  2. Ensure test light flashes and coolant temperature gauge moves toward hot. If test light flashes but gauge does not move, replace coolant temperature gauge. If test light does not flash, check wiring for open circuit. Repair as necessary. If wiring is okay, replace coolant temperature gauge.
