Retrieving Codes
NOTE:
Fault codes are erased when ignition is turned off. Drive vehicle, and perform self-test before turning ignition off. Fault codes can be retrieved one at a time. Correct first code retrieved, then drive vehicle and retest for additional codes.
- If using Multi-Use Tester (09391-33002) to retrieve fault codes, connect tester to TCU test connector (located in fuse box at left kick panel) and cigarette lighter socket. See Fig 1 . If using analog voltmeter to retrieve codes, connect voltmeter to TCU test connector. Run engine until normal operating temperature is reached. Drive vehicle, allowing vehicle to cycle through all shift conditions.
- Read fault codes on multi-use tester, or if using voltmeter, count needle sweeps. Voltmeter needle sweeps represent on-off voltage signals, which can be used to identify fault codes. See Fig 2 -Fig 5 .
NOTE:
When using multi-use tester, refer to manufacturer instructions for fault code display information.
