Test Procedures
- With engine at normal operating temperature, tachometer installed and parking and service brakes applied, perform transaxle stall test in "D" and "R" ranges at full throttle, and note maximum RPM obtained. Ensure engine RPM is within specification. See STALL SPEEDS table.
- If stall speed is too high in "D", rear clutch or overrunning clutch is slipping. Perform hydraulic pressure tests to determine faulty unit.
- If stall speed is too high in "R", front clutch or low-reverse brake is slipping. Perform hydraulic pressure tests to determine faulty unit.
- If stall speed is too low in "D" or "R", check for faulty torque converter, insufficient engine output and faulty accelerator switch. Ensure engine performance is satisfactory before condemning converter. Converter cannot be overhauled and must be replaced if defective.
