Oil Pressure Gauge: Sonata

  1. Disconnect engine harness connector from oil gauge sending unit on engine. See OIL PRESSURE SWITCH/SENDING UNIT LOCATION table. Ground harness connector terminal using a 12-volt test light (with a 3.4-watt light bulb installed).

    Excel Behind Alternator
    Scoupe Behind Alternator
    Sonata On Oil Filter Housing
    Sonata V6 On Right Front Of Oil Pump Case
  2. Turn ignition on. Test light should flash and gauge indicator should move. If test light does not flash, check for open circuit from gauge to sending unit. If test light flashes and gauge pointer does not move, check gauge ground circuit. If ground circuit is good, replace gauge.
