Master Cylinder: Installation

  1. Before installation, adjust clearance between brake booster push rod and master cylinder piston. Clearance information is not available for Excel. On Scoupe, distance from front surface of booster to front of booster push rod should be .220-.235" (5.59-5.97 mm). See Fig 1 .
  2. On Sonata 4-cylinder models, distance from front surface of booster to front of booster push rod should be 1.470-1.482" (37.35-37.65 mm). On Sonata V6 with 4-wheel disc brakes, no adjustment is required.
  3. To complete installation of master cylinder, reverse removal procedure. After installation, adjust pedal height. See ADJUSTMENTS. Bleed brake system.
