Description & Operation

Disc/drum brake system is hydraulically-operated, using a master cylinder with a single reservoir and 2 outlets. A vacuum assist power brake unit is used on all models. Proportioning valves are used to control anti-skid braking action. Mechanical brake system is self-adjusting. The Sonata master cylinder cannot be rebuilt.

Disc brake pads have built-in wear indicator warning sensors. When brake pad lining is low, sensor will rub against rotor, causing a very notable squealing sound. Sonata V6 models have 4-wheel disc brakes as standard equipment.
