Excel & Scoupe

  1. Measure pedal height from surface of floor panel to top of brake pedal. See Fig 1 . If pedal height is not 6.38-6.54" (162-166 mm), back off stoplight switch to where it does not contact pedal arm. Turn stoplight switch until clearance between stoplight switch outer case and pedal arm is .02-.04" (.5-1.0 mm). Tighten lock nut. Recheck pedal height.

  2. Check brake pedal free play. If free play is not .4-.6" (10-15 mm), adjust brake pedal push rod until clearance is obtained.
  3. Start engine. Apply brake pedal with 110 lbs. (50 kg) force. Clearance between floor board and top of brake pedal should be 2.76" (70 mm) or more. If clearance is not to specification, check brake adjustment or check for air in system.
