Coolant Temperature Gauge

  1. Check if other gauges and indicator lights are inoperative. If these are also inoperative, check appropriate fuse in fuse panel. See GAUGES FUSE IDENTIFICATION table. Disconnect engine harness connector from temperature gauge sender on engine, near thermostat housing. Ground harness connector terminal, using a 12-volt test light (with a 3.4-watt light bulb installed).
  2. Turn ignition on. Test light should flash and gauge indicator should move. If test light does not flash, check power circuit from gauge to sending unit. If test light flashes and temperature gauge does not move, check gauge power feed and ground circuits. If circuits are good, replace gauge.
