Rocker Assembly & Camshaft: Installation

1. Lubricate camshaft lobes and camshaft bearing journals and install camshaft into cylinder head. Check camshaft end play. Install rocker arm assembly to cylinder head. Insert camshaft bearing caps and tighten bolts.
2. Lubricate front O.D. of camshaft. Using Seal Installer (MD998364), install camshaft oil seal. Install upper inner cover and camshaft sprocket. If dowel pin hole on camshaft sprocket is not in alignment with dowel pin, lightly strike projections at No. 2 exhaust cam with a screwdriver to turn camshaft.
3. Reverse removal procedure to complete installation. Temporarily set valve clearance to cold engine settings. Readjust to hot engine settings when engine is at normal operating temperature. Apply sealer to cylinder head. See Fig 1. Install rocker cover, air cleaner and breather hoses.
