Installation Procedure

  1. Lubricate the steering linkage inner tie rod threads with chassis lubricant. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations .

  3. Install the steering linkage outer tie rod (1) to the steering linkage inner tie rod.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  5. Use installer J 29193  to seat the steering linkage outer tie rod in the steering knuckle. See Special Tools .

    Tighten:  Tighten installer J 29193  to 54 N. See Special Tools .m (40 lb ft).

  7. Install the new steering linkage outer tie rod nut to the steering linkage outer tie rod (2).

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).

  8. Tighten the steering linkage inner tie rod nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 68 N.m (50 lb ft).

  9. Adjust the front toe. Refer to Front Toe Adjustment .
