Steering Wheel Replacement

Steering Wheel Replacement

Callout Component Name
CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution .

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
1 Steering Wheel Nut
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten:  41 N.m (30 lb ft)

2 Steering Wheel
Tip: 
  1. Do not remove the steering wheel not completely. Loosen the nut until 2 or 3 threads are still engaged.
  2. Remove the steering wheel by tapping from behind the wheel, then wiggle loose.
  3. Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors from the SIR coil.
  4. Remove the steering wheel nut and steering wheel.
