Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the park brake cable automatic adjuster. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling .

  3. Disconnect the park brake cable from the park brake actuator lever.
  4. Remove the park brake shoe. Refer to Park Brake Shoe Replacement (1500 Series)  or Park Brake Shoe Replacement (2500 Series) .
  5. Remove the rear axle shaft. Refer to Rear Axle Shaft Replacement (8.6, 9.5 LD Axle) or Rear Axle Shaft Replacement (9.5 HD Axle) .

  7. Remove the park brake backing plate bolts.
  8. Remove the park brake backing plate from the disc brake backing plate.
