Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2007 GMC Yukon XL, 2007 GMC Yukon, 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2007 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install the park brake backing plate to the disc brake backing plate.
- Perform the following procedure before installing the park brake backing plate bolts.
- Remove all traces of the original adhesive patch.
- Clean the threads of the bolt with brake parts cleaner or the equivalent and allow to dry.
- Apply Threadlocker GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) to the threads of the bolt.
- Install the park brake backing plate bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 135 N.m (100 lb ft).
- Install the rear axle shaft. Refer to Rear Axle Shaft Replacement (8.6, 9.5 LD Axle) or Rear Axle Shaft Replacement (9.5 HD Axle) .
- Install the park brake shoe. Refer to Park Brake Shoe Replacement (1500 Series) or Park Brake Shoe Replacement (2500 Series) .
- Connect the park brake cable to the park brake actuator lever.
- Enable the park brake cable automatic adjuster. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling .
- Adjust the park brake shoe. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
