Component Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2012 GMC Yukon, 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2012 Cadillac Escalade. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
You must perform the Circuit/System Testing before proceeding with Component Testing.
- Ignition OFF, open the hood to disable the Auto-Stop function. Refer to Hybrid Modes of Operation Description .
- Ignition ON, verify the scan tool hood position parameter displays Open.
- If the hood position does not display Open, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle for DTC P254F.
- Inspect the B23 camshaft position sensor for correct installation. Remove the camshaft position sensor from the engine and inspect the sensor O-ring for damage.
- If the sensor is loose, incorrectly installed, or damaged, replace the camshaft position sensor.
- Connect the camshaft position sensor harness connector to the B23 camshaft position sensor.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF, observe the Camshaft Position Active Counter parameter on the scan tool.
- Pass a flat steel object across the tip of the sensor repeatedly. The Camshaft Position Active Counter parameter should increment with each pass of the steel object.
- If the parameter does not increment, replace the B23 camshaft position sensor.
