Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2012 GMC Yukon XL, 2012 GMC Yukon, 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2012 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:

Diagnose any engine control module DTCs before performing this diagnostic.

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X4 harness connector at the amplifier.
  2. Test for less than 10 Ω between the engine speed low signal circuit terminal 8 and ground.
    • If not within the specified range, test the circuit for an open/high resistance, or short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal replace the ECM.
  3. Engine running at 600 RPM, test for 275-325 Hz AC between the engine speed high signal circuit terminal 7 and ground.
    • If not within the specified range, test the circuit for a short to ground, open/high resistance, or short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal replace the ECM.
  4. If all circuits test normal, replace the amplifier.
