Preliminary Procedure Remove the transfer adapter from the transmission. Refer to Transfer Case Adapter Replacement , for the BW 4485-NR3 transfer case or Transfer Case Adapter Replacement for the MP 3023/3024-NQH transfer case.
1	Output Shaft Seal Procedure Use the J-6125-B hammer and J-36825-A remover to remove the seal. Use care in order to avoid damaging the output shaft bushing. Lubricate the seal with clean transmission fluid. Use the DT-50648 installer to install the seal. Special Tools DT-50648 Case Seal Installer J-6125-B Slide Hammer with Adaptor J-36825-A Output Shaft Oil Seal Remover For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .

Procedure

Use the J-6125-B hammer and J-36825-A remover to remove the seal. Use care in order to avoid damaging the output shaft bushing.
Lubricate the seal with clean transmission fluid.
Use the DT-50648 installer to install the seal.
