Removal Procedure

- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Remove the front axle hub cap from the wheel bearing, if equipped.
- Insert a drift or large screwdriver through the brake caliper into one of the brake rotor vanes in order to prevent the wheel drive shaft from turning.
- Remove the nut (1) and washer (2) from the hub.
- Using the J-45859 Axle Remover, remove the wheel drive shaft from the hub.
- Remove the retaining bolts from the drive flange.
- Remove the stabilizer shaft link from the lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement (2500) , Stabilizer Shaft Replacement (1500) .
- Remove the shock module. Refer to Shock Absorber and Spring Removal and Installation .
- Remove the wheel drive shaft through the lower control arm opening.
- Remove all dirt and debris from the splines on the wheel hub/bearing.
NOTE:
DO NOT reuse the wheel drive shaft nut, use a NEW nut only.
