Installation Procedure

  1. Position the torsion bar in the lower control arm.
  2. Install the torsion bar in the support assembly.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  4. Install the upper link mounting nut (2) and the bolt (1) in the link (3).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 95 (70 lb ft).

  6. Install the adjustment arm (2) in the support assembly (1).
  7. Install the adjuster bolt (3) and the adjustment nut (4).
  8. Slide the torsion bar rearward until the torsion bar is fully seated in the adjustment arm.

  10. Install the J 36202  torsion bar unloading/loading tool on the adjustment arm and the support assembly.
  11. Using the J 36202  torsion bar unloading/loading tool, increase the tension on the adjustment arm in order to load the torsion bar.
  12. Align the reference marks, turn the adjuster bolt the same amount of turns as it took to remove it.
  13. Remove the J 36202  torsion bar unloading/loading tool from the support assembly.
  14. Remove the safety stand and lower the vehicle.
  15. Measure the Z height. Refer to Trim Height Inspection .
