Removal Procedure

- Remove the differential assembly. Refer to Differential Replacement (10.5 Inch Axle) , Differential Replacement (8.6, 9.5/9.5 LD Inch Axles) .
- Remove the differential side bearings by doing the following:
- For the 8.6 inch axle, install the differential assembly into a vise.
- For the 10.5 inch axle, place a block of wood on each side of the differential assembly.
Install the differential assembly into a vise.
- For the 8.6 inch axle, install the J 22888-20A puller (2) and the J 8107-4 plug (1) over the differential case side bearing bore.
- Using the J 22888-20A puller (2), and the J 8107-4 plug (1) or the J 36597 pilot (1), remove the differential side bearings.
