Rear Brake Hose Replacement (JD9)

Rear Brake Hose Replacement (JD9)

Callout Component Name
WARNING:

Refer to Brake Fluid Warning .

WARNING:

Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning .

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
1 Brake Pipe Rear Fitting
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .


Tighten 
25 N.m (18 lb ft)
  • Remove any dirt or debris from the brake pipe fitting.
  • The mounting bracket for the brake hose is serviced as part of the brake hose assembly and is not serviced separately.
  • Use a backup wrench when removing or installing the brake pipe fitting.
  • Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss or contamination.
2 Brake Hose to Axle Rear Bolt
Tighten 
9 N.m (80 lb in)
TIP:  Finger tighten mounting bolt before torquing to the specified value.
3 Brake Hose to Axle Rear Bracket
4 Brake Hose to Caliper Rear Bolt
Tighten 
40 N.m (30 lb ft)
5 Brake Hose to Caliper Gasket (Qty: 2)
  • Make sure the gaskets are not still attached to the brake hose or bolt, if not remove them.
  • DO NOT re-use the gaskets. Install NEW gaskets.
6 Brake Rear Hose
