Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2012 GMC Yukon XL, 2012 GMC Yukon, 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2012 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install the steering shaft coupling to the vehicle.
- Install the steering shaft coupling nut (1) and bolt (2) at the upper intermediate steering shaft and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Install the steering shaft coupling bolt at the steering gear and tighten to 47 N.m (35 lb ft).
- Install the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement .
- Remove the J 42640 anti-rotation pin from the steering column lower access hole.
NOTE:
If a new steering shaft coupling is being installed then transfer the position of the alignment marks from the old component to the same locations on the new component. Failure to transfer the alignment marks may result in an off-center steering wheel after installation.
