Removal Procedure

- Release the park brake.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Drill a 3 mm (1/8 in) hole through the dimple in the right parking brake cable connector (1) where the front parking brake cable is connected.
- Pull the parking brake equalizer forward and disconnect the right parking brake cable connector from the intermediate parking brake cable.
- Compress the locking tabs on the right parking brake cable conduit (2) and remove the parking brake cable from the equalizer.
- Release the parking brake cable from the parking brake cable guide (1) on the left frame rail.
- Release the parking brake cable from the parking brake cable guide (1) on the left frame rail over the rear axle.
- Remove the parking brake cable (1) from the retaining clip on the rear axle housing cover.
- Remove the bolt (1) from the parking brake cable bracket.
- Disconnect the parking brake cable eye (1) from the parking brake actuator lever.
- Release the parking brake cable locking tabs, remove the parking brake cable from the cable bracket by compressing the parking brake cable spring toward the cable eye and passing the cable through the cable bracket slot.
- Remove the parking brake cable.
